You own training. You have nobody to build it.

L&D Creative turns the training you already run into a self-paced course that still sounds like you, for the one person who owns training and has nobody to build it.

Who this is for

You are not starting from zero. That is what makes this hard.

A stack of training materials: a slide deck, a spiral binder, a loose page slipping out, a sticky note, a speech bubble, and a calendar with one date circled

You have a live program that works in a room. Slides someone updates every year, a facilitator guide, a binder, stakeholders with strong opinions and one of them signs off on your work.

You might even have training staff. What you do not have is anyone who has ever built a course.

None of it turns itself into self-paced learning. And the date is not yours to move. It came with the grant, or the policy change, or the board.

So it lands on you. You choose the vendor, you read every draft against a subject you know cold, and if it comes back wrong you are the one explaining it to the people who paid for it.

Which would be fine, if you had any way to tell a good vendor from one that photographs well.

The problem

Looks finished. Misses the mark.

Plenty of courses look finished. The screens are clean, the buttons work, the quiz keeps score. And the scenarios are about a company that is not yours, in vocabulary your staff have never once used.

You cannot catch that in a demo. Almost nobody can evaluate learning design from the outside, so they evaluate how it looks instead. That blind spot is where most of this field operates.

The fix is not a better portfolio. It is reading the whole course, in words, before anyone builds a screen of it.

The method

The Structured Build

You approve the entire course on paper, screen by screen, before I build anything. That is phase 2, and it is the reason the other four hold.

A figure climbs a 5-step staircase with one hand raised, toward a flag planted at the top

Phase 1

Discovery

Audience, objectives, structure, what gets cut and why, and how accessibility gets handled. You get a Course Plan.

Phase 2 · The gate

Design

The full course on paper, screen by screen. This is the gate. Nothing gets built until you sign it off.

Phase 3

Build

A working course in Rise or Storyline, with accessibility designed in rather than patched on afterward.

Phase 4

Review

Two consolidated review rounds, included as standard.

Phase 5

Handover

Published files, source files, IP transfer, ready for your LMS.

Five phases, five deliverables, one person from the first call to handover.

Testimonials

I had the pleasure of working with Denise Robinson on a large-scale learning and development project, and I would gladly work with her again. Denise is an exceptional instructional designer and a fantastic partner to work with. She has a talent for turning complex content, stakeholder feedback, and source materials into engaging, cohesive learning experiences. Throughout our project, she consistently delivered high-quality work, responded quickly to feedback, and demonstrated professionalism at every stage.

I would highly recommend Denise of L&D Creative to any organization looking for a skilled learning professional who combines strong instructional design expertise with a collaborative, client-focused approach.

I had the pleasure of working with Denise as our contracted instructional designer for Vaccinate Your Family's (VYF) Vaccination Community Learning Program (VCLP), and her expertise made all the difference.

From the start, Denise brought a thoughtful, structured approach to instructional design. She guided our team through a clear process—beginning with a needs assessment and learning objectives, then moving into storyboarding, content design, and development. She was meticulous about aligning every activity and interaction to the goals of the program, ensuring the final product wasn’t just engaging but also highly effective for our diverse audience of advocates. VYF had a vision for this curriculum and Denise was perfect in bringing it to realization.

What stood out most was Denise’s ability to translate complex subject matter into accessible, learner-friendly formats. She worked collaboratively with our team, asked the right questions, and transformed dense technical content into interactive, plain-language learning experiences. Throughout the development process, she was responsive, organized, and very good in anticipating what we would need next.

Because of her contributions, we now have a high-quality, scalable program that empowers advocates with the tools and confidence to engage their communities about vaccination. I would recommend Denise without hesitation to anyone looking for an instructional designer who combines process expertise, creativity, and a learner-centered mindset.

The paper gate

You approve the full course on paper before I build a single screen. There’s no version of this where you see the finished course for the first time and it’s wrong.

One person

The person on your first call is the person who builds it. Named in the contract.

Yours to keep

Source files and IP are yours on final payment.

The trade

What I'm not

Not the cheapest or fastest.

Offshore owns that. Getting your organization's voice onto the page takes time.

Not ready-made.

There's no library to pick from, no course I've already built that I can rename for you. Everything gets made for one organization, out of what that organization already runs.
